"Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints." - Psalm 149:1 (KJV)

The Music Ministry is an integral part of the worship experience here at the historic First African Methodist Episcopal Church: Bethel.  Our choirs and ensembles stand as witnesses of God's grace and ceasless mercy.  We share the story of our unique journey through our songs, and exalt God Almighty with our praise. Our choirs and ensembles sing a vast array of music from the early cantatas of Johann Sebastian Bach, to the stirring melodies of Charles Albert Tindley and Richard Smallwood.

The Music Ministry also serves the Bethel church family, and the community at large through a myriad of community outreach initiatives. Biennially we hold music workshops, which are designed to help choristers learn the fundamentals of score reading, ear training, and vocal technique. These workshops are often open to the general public for little to no cost to participants. In an effort to increase interest in Vocal Arts and Music Ministry, we also donate tickets to Music Ministry concerts and events to Bethel youth, as well as students in the Harlem community.
